Calligraphy and Autumn...

Hi everyone!! We just got back from Church a little while ago. You can really tell the summer weather is turning into autumn!!

Today, Mom and I went to calligraphy class. We finished learning the rest of the alphabet today. The alphabet style we are learning is called "sharpened italic." Here's an example of it.

Yesterday, was our Mom's birthday. We had her birthday party last night. The Laverty's and Stuart came over.There was lots of food. We really enjoyed it. Here is some of the photos.

Calligraphy Lessons

Mom and I had our first calligraphy lesson yesterday. There's 13 in a class. We will be having one lesson a week for the next seven weeks. Jacquie, the teacher, taught us the basic italic skeleton lettering. It was very interesting!! For the first 3-4 weeks of the lessons we will use pencils instead of pens. Each week will get harder, and on the 8th week will be doing a special project. I'm really looking forward to the next lesson!!

Today, Lydia went to the Bangor hospital to have her splint removed. Her finger is healing slowly!! We went to the Christian Book shop today and dropped off some film to be developed at the print shop. We played curbsie and I showed the neighborhood kids Tannin again this evening. We are expecting another very stormy night. We are getting the effects of Gordon the hurricane. Stuart and the Laverty's came over tonight. Mom fixed meatballs, mmm they where great!!

Hello, we just got back from church a little while ago. We wanted to give you an update of what we have been doing lately. Tomorrow, we are going to do our school and visit the campers. On Thursday, Lydia is going to the doctor about her broken finger. Next week, Grace and our Mom are going to start their calligraphy lessons. It is an 8 week course. They will be taking their lessons at the Down County museum. They are really looking forward to it. Also, next week is Mom's birthday. Her birthday day is on Sept. 29th.

(Isa. 26.3).Nowhere is this truth more aptly illustrated than in the story which accompanies the writing of the hymn "It Is Well With My Soul".Horatio G. Spafford lived, with his wife and four daughters, in Chicago. He was a lawyer by profession and a devout and sincere Christian.One day in 1873 he stood on the quayside in Chicago and bid farewell to his family as they set sail to visit relatives in far off Europe. He was not to realise that he would never see most of them again.Some days later their ship, bound for Le Havre in France collided with another steamship in mid-Atlantic, and sank almost immediately.Before it did so, however, Mrs Spafford was able to have a prayer with her children and commit them to the mercy of the Lord. That was the last time she would ever see them on this earth.Fortunately, a lifeboat spotted Mrs Spafford and she was rescued. When she arrived in Britain, with the rest of the survivors, she sent her husband this terse, but telling message: 'SAVED ALONE.'The words struck Horatio Spafford with full force, and, understandably, plunged him into deep sorrow. He left for England, without delay, to comfort his grief-stricken wife.The American evangelist D.L. Moody and his associate, singer Ira D. Sankey, were conducting a campaign in Edinburgh at the time. They were personal friends of the Spaffords and came down to London to give whatever help and comfort they could. They found their friends in surprisingly good spirits, strong in faith and able to say through their tears, 'It is well; the will of God be done.'Three years after that tragedy, Mr. Spafford wrote his hymn "It Is Well With My Soul", in memory of his four precious daughters. Happily each of them had personally received Jesus Christ as Saviour before embarking on that fateful voyage.It would be very difficult for any of us to predict how we would react under circumstances similar to those experienced by the Spaffords. But we do know that the God who sustained them would also be with us.No matter what circumstances overtake us may we be able to say with Horatio Spafford-

Hello, today we went to the Newtownards market to buy some flowers. Mom did some baking today. She made pumkin pie, cheesecake, banana bread, and chocolate cookies. They look DELICIOUS! Stuart is lending Grace his 35mm camera and developing equipment. She's having lots of fun taking pics and developing them!!! Grace is experimenting with all the different lenses. Stuart and Grace are going to delevop some photos tonight. Well we have to go and help Mom with dinner, Have a great weekend,

Saturday we went to the GRAND OPENING of Bro David's Creation Museum. He's displaying his collection of rocks, fossils, and other artifacts of great interest that proclaim there is a CREATOR!! He's using a room in his home for that purpose. We also had a bbq - The food was very good!!!

Yesterday, we had a Ladies day out in Bangor. We rode the bus into Bangor (a town about five miles from where we live.) The day included- shopping - shopping and LOTS more SHOPPING!! We had a bunch of fun!!

A song for Tannin

Sis Kristi wrote and sent us this song via email about Grace's lizard. We thought it was really cute!!! (to the tune of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer.)

Tannin, the bearded dragon,
lives in Northern Ireland
He is a pet of Grace Fox,

All of the Fox gals love him
Even with his little spikes
Grace feeds him worms and crickets
This is what he really likes
